Good book. Misleading title June 28, 2009 Peggy Massung (PA) Book states one day, but must prepare for 7 days and after care. Interesting. Unsure I will use it.
It really works - but you need a lot of prep. time to be successful! June 10, 2009 Healthier Me (New York USA) A friend of mine ran into an old friend who had just completed the Fast Track Detox Diet, and my friend was amazed at how great her friend looked. As a result, my friend suggested that we do the diet together, (which is a really good idea - doing it with a friend). We each bought the book and spent the weekend reading the book from cover to cover, and learning that it really is an 11 day program, not just one random fast day. We decided to do the food shopping for the prequel and fast day and spent a full day purchasing the food and putting it away in our respective kitchens. On the first day we started, we were shocked at how much preparation went into each meal, (for example, the market salad requires about a half dozen vegetables, some of which had to be steamed, and others that had to be diced and sliced and peeled). The good thing about this was that by the time we actually got to sit down and eat, we were exhausted and the hunger almost passed. If I had to do this over again, I would have given myself a little more advance time to prepare the vegetables or snacks so that I could just assemble the meals more quickly. Another thing we did in advance was to cut down on our caffeine intake so it wouldn't come as too much of a shock. This really helped. Well, we pretty much stuck to the diet, give or take a couple of small omissions, (I'll never get used to kale!), and by the day of the fast we were fully ready to experience a wonderful day. To make sure that we could get through a fast day (we were thinking of other fasts we had been on which were terrible - headache, chills, low energy, etc.) we decided to make it a really fun day, so we scheduled morning pedicures, went shopping, went to an afternoon movie, and ended the fast day by going food shopping for the sequel days that would follow. I have to say and my friend agrees, that we were never hungry on the fast day and even got to look forward to the cranberry miracle drink. The only bad thing during that day, was all the running to the restroom at the movie theater, and we missed a lot of Angels & Demons as a result. The next day I weighed myself, (something I hadn't done since the morning of the first day I went on the diet, and discovered that I had lost 7 lbs. My friend lost 5 and a half. Both of us were ecstatic, because we had done this diet to get out of plateaus we had hit while on a year long Weight Watchers' program, so it really worked. We each continued the sequel for 3 days and held steady on the weight loss. Now for the best part. Everywhere I go, since then, I meet someone who says to me, "You look fabulous, what did you do?" Which is pretty funny, because that's what my friend had said to her friend originally that got us to start the diet. I think I have sold about 20 books to my friends, relatives, and acquaintances just by talking up this diet. If you have the time ( and money for the organic products) you will do well. It has been three weeks since I did the diet and I am still the same weight as I was after the fast. Also, I have lost that fat around my middle which is very noticeable. I think this is because I have a new respect for my dealings with food. I still reread the book a chapter at a time to keep me aware of why I am not eating certain foods. I have switched from whole grain bread to flourless bread even though I do not have a gluten allergy as Gittleman suggests. I will never go back to pork. Most of all, I am so aware of portion control...I used to think that my morning oatmeal, packed with almonds, walnuts, and raisins and blueberries was so healthy, but I must have eaten 3 cups worth at each meal. I think I will do this diet at every change of season, just to keep myself on target, but so far, so good. Remember...doing this with a friend really, really helps. Good luck!
Fast and Healty June 7, 2009 Jules (Virginia) The Fast Track Detox will take off the pounds and take them off fast and it's healthy. It is a lot of work though. A lot of prep and quite a bit of cooking if your used to fast food and pop it in the oven meals. This takes some work but you feel healthier and you lose pounds very quickly. I would recommend getting one of her other books to follow up on or the pounds will come right back on.
KNoon April 25, 2009 KP (Milwaukee, WI) I was looking to do a detox to make sure I was as healthy as possible. I ended up losing some stubborn weight that I haven't been able to get off for a couple of years in the process! This book explains everything you need to do very easily and has recipes. My boyfriend and I felt great during and after this detox. I feel like a new person. The only thing I would like to mention that they don't in the book is how time consuming it is to shop, chop vegetables, and cook all of the stuff you need to eat. It was a little taxing at times, but well worth it.
fast track detox diet April 6, 2009 Arlene M. Schultz (san francisco bay area) book gave lots of good insight, but diet itself, I don't know. Just use common sense, nothing 'white', no sugar....candida diet is similar.
